1. Bag forming:
Vertical packing machines adopt pre-printed roll film. (This packing machine can make the bag by roll film. Customers need to buy roll film from roll film manufacturer.)
Rotary packing machines adopt pre-made pouches such as stand-up pouch, zipper bag, flat pouch, etc. (This packing machine doesn’t have the function of bag making. Customers need to buy bags from bags manufacturer.)
2. Bag Type
Vertical packing machine can make pillow bag, gusset bag, punching bag and connecting bag, some packing machines also can make stick bag, etc.
Rotary packing machine can pack stand-up pouch with or without zipper, spout bag, flat pouch, paper bag, etc. (The bag must be pre-formed.)
3. Working Process
Vertical packing machine: Film Transport---- Film Tension---- Optional Printing---- Film Tracking and Positioning---- Bag Forming--- Bag Filling and Sealing--- Bag Discharge
Rotary packing machine: Bag Loading--- Bag Gripping--- Optional Printing --- Bag Opening --- Product Filling--- Other Options--- Bag Sealing --- Cooling & Discharge
4. Packaging Speed
If packaging speed is your foremost consideration, vertical packing machine will often beat rotary packing machine.
Remember, faster isn't always better. You must consider the needs of your unique application when deciding on flexible packaging equipment. While speed is important, you may find that it is not the most important aspect of your packaging project.
5. Material Cost
Pre-made bags usually cost more than roll film. But the the appearance of pre-made bag looks better because of the addition of a zipper or spout.
All in all, your choice of packaging equipment must take into consideration many factors that will be unique to your packaging project
